Good morning,
This is Chris Drezek, Superintendent for the Enfield Public Schools. I’m calling to give parents an update on an issue at Prudence Crandall School this morning. Around 10:30 this morning, a water pipe burst in the parking lot of Prudence Crandall School. Town crews responded immediately and determined that the pipe in question is the main water line to the school, and needs to be turned off for repairs. After consulting with Town Building and Grounds officials, it was recommended that students be dismissed once the water main is turned off, as there will be no water in the building. Because of this, Prudence Crandall ONLY, will be dismissed with the following schedule:
Students on Busses will be picked up at roughly 11:15.
Parents who chose to pick their students up are being asked to arrive at 11:30, and will be dismissed through the normal parent pickup procedures.
Any student who is a walker, will not be released from the school until school staff contacts the students’ parents and notifies them of the release.
Because of the location of the affected pipe, additional police officers will be on campus to facilitate traffic flow in a safe manner.
I want to stress that at no time were any students or staff in any danger, however completing the remainder of the school day without running water in the building is not an appropriate option for our students and staff.
I want to thank you for your patience in this matter and I will send out additional updates as I have them.
Thank you,
Christopher J. Drezek
